The Risks of model anorexia |
Anorexia is a rising problem in a lot of adolescents specially women that want to have a great body and look beautiful. A person that has anorexia has eating disorders and avoids eating at all or vomits to avoid gaining weight.
It becomes an obsession to lose weight and even when the person is thin still want to lose weight as a lifestyle. One of the things that is influencing adolescents and teenagers is the fashion model industry, the models are really thin that is even unhealthy but thats how teenagers want to look.
There are various cases of models with anorexia that got very serious consequences as a result of not eating and being too thin. What happens is that they eat just enough to survive and that results in a weak body that can resist any sudden disease.
There is a case of the Brazilian model Ana Caroline Reston that died in 2006 as a result of anorexia. The model was ill and she just ate a diet of apples, tomatoes and fruit juice. She was very weak and she constantly vomited.
People around her knew she was ill, but then on the year 2006 she got an infection and died at 21. This is not the first time that happens in the fashion industry, that year 2 models died as a result of anorexia.
The problem is also that the fashion industry is very strict with their models and tell them they are fat even just for a few pounds, so they do anything to stay thin to the point that they can get sick of anorexia and in some cases die.
Teenagers should not follow the fashion industry and television as their role model of beauty, many of the ultra thin models are sick and unhealthy, but thats what adolescents are seeing and want to imitate.
The result is that women teenagers get obsessed to be so thin that they get into eating disorders, vomit, take laxants and once they have anorexia the consequences for your body are for life, the problems does not go away if you start eating well, your body is already damaged.
